LANCASTER SQUARE
Drexel University
Philadelphia

Drexel's new master plan calls for major expansion of its University City main campus during the next decade. Goals include doubling the number of student beds, intensifying the University's engagement with the City, and invigorating key retail areas adjacent to campus. We developed urban design options for the the current Hess engineering laboratory site at the intersection of Lancaster Avenue and 34th Street just north of Market Street, suggesting 4 different massing options for a phased development of up to 500,000 square feet in two multi-story structures, 1,200 student beds, dining, retail stores along Lancaster Avenue, and structured parking.

Completion Date: 2012 (Study)
