NEW SQUARE at BROAD & SPRING GARDEN
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This study suggests that the intersection of Broad and Spring Garden Streets could be designed as a sixth “square” for Philadelphia. The Square would be different in form, appearance and use from the other Philadelphia squares but would form a modern and active destination. The newly developed square would reflect the history of The Baldwin Locomotive Works, which was located on the southwest corner of the intersection until the 1920s.
