GERMANTOWN SQUARE
Germantown
Philadelphia

Central Germantown has several significant vacant assets that the City of Philadelphia and residents alike hope to repurpose into facilities that will become positive attributes of the neighborhood.  These vacant assets include Germantown Town Hall, Germantown High School and the Germantown YWCA, all on historic Germantown Avenue.

Another nearby asset that is mostly overlooked is the northwest corner of Germantown and Chelten Avenues.  This intersection is historically Germantown’s “100% corner” and the northwest corner contains a large area of underutilized open space and structures that probably have limited value for reuse.  As “Germantown Square”, this area has the potential for becoming a true and accessible Town Center and Visitors’ Center and could, along with the other assets, serve as a catalyst for reviving central Germantown.
